Before I found this place "the crab lady" I was driving an hour to Captain Pell's in Northern VA for crabs. That's how much I love steam crabs. The crabs were delicious. For those who think the crabs are pricey at the crab lady don't know good crabs.

I hesitated to post this review because right now it feels like our little secret, but she just put together a website so I guess that means expansion anyway! My bf and I looove crabs. After we moved here, we made it a point to visit a number of crab houses along VA Beach and even up to Maryland, but then we got to thinking, there's nothing special to crabs. If you can get them and steam them, might as well do it for cheaper at home! I searched for a place where we could get great fresh crabs, but if you've ever tried doing internet research in Richmond for something niche like that, you'll know how impossible it is. Fortunately, the name "Crab Lady" made it pretty clear that we would be able to find what we were looking for there. According to her website, she's only been in business for 6 years, but she's done a great job locating a good crab supplier. Sometimes service can be a little slow, but the wait is always worth it. We buy them live and steam them at home in a pasta insert, but you can also buy them steamed there. She also offers shrimp and snow crab legs. She also offers "crab kickers" which are the center parts of the crabs with legs, cooked with garlic and other spices. Yum yum! She ran out of crabs after the 4th so now I'm just counting hours until Thursday when we can get our crabs again!

The Crab Lady sells fresh hot crabs year round. The Crab Lady also sells jumbo and regular size shrimp. Large snow crab legs and the very popular Crab Lady Crab kickers and Crab Lady Shrimp kickers. I work for a very large production facility in the Richmond area and when I inquired with one of my co-workers on who had the "biggest crabs" that they had seen this establishment was his reply.My first visit was late on a Sunday afternoon and the supply was limited to the "small" variety but when I went the next week on a Friday they had plenty of "Jumbo's. I must admit that they were a bit pricey for the size but were of exceptional quality.Now to the reason why I drove 17 miles from Chesterfield co. past numerous seafood establishment (including B&B) . There was this lady who waited on me..................She had the most increditable eyes that I had ever seen.................and it almost seemed that she remembered me from the previous week eventhough it was my first time ever going there. I'll go back again next week.The quality of the crabs deserves 5 stars (though a bit pricey) but the customer service of that "angel" who waited on me has no scale of measure.She was truly incredible.

I love seafood even more now that I have found The Crab Lady. The crabs are full of meat and never get a dead one. Thier shrimp is always fresh and those Crab Lady Kickers........ are ON POINT! Prices are a bit high but it's worth every morsel!

I had a crab fest at my house on Saturday, Nov. 1st. I purchased a bushel of crabs and other seafood from The Crab Lady. The weather was great. My friends enjoyed the food, drinks and the best crabs ever. Thanks Kim, you've got a customer for life.
